Here, we extract data from 1972 based on historical map Kong. Then, apply ArcGIS Pro Fragstats software calculate rate expansion, intensity, change centre gravity, landscape pattern index Analysis shows following: (1) expansion generally showed “rapid at first then slowing down”, with 2010 as peak 1970–2020 timeframe. (2) sources transfer mainly came cultivated land, sea areas, forest which were distributed New Territories. (3) gravity “slowly shifting northwest” during period, indicating that polycentric structure has been continuously strengthened. (4) Spiltting tortuous upward trend, Mean Euclidean nearest neighbour distance steady downward indicated connectivity city steadily increased while degree fragmentation gradually increased.
